Guess what, chaos happens

I’m not condoning or condemning the no-confidence move on Theresa May here, I’m just saying it is what it is.

Teams, boards, families, marriages, congregations, countries – any group of people – all have their embarrassingly chaotic moments, because they’re comprised of people.

Even when people are trying to do the right thing, they clash. There are power struggles, competing visions, simmering resentments, power plays, the lot.

Sometimes, open conflict is necessary, or at least unavoidable, whether it’s the unseemly shouting match at a dinner party, the red-faced telling off in a supermarket, or what you see today.

Issues need to be worked out if they are ever to be resolved, even when it is unedifying to behold.

We’ll get over it, dust ourselves off, and recover our composure.
