The Form Leader
Here’s a thought
“If your team was ‘on form’ what would that look like?
Top cyclists exhibit great form. Elbows in, shoulders down, back straight, abs engaged, leg muscles relaxed and spinning at a high cadence, steady breathing, well fuelled, fully hydrated and at one with their precision and finely tuned bikes and equipment. Poetry in motion; the culmination of years of training, experience and preparation and supported by hand-picked experts, probably world class in their own field.
All known ‘marginal gains’ taken, “on form”, and at their very best they are highly effective, though still there is no guarantee they are going to ‘win’. The competition is also world class.
Given some time and if we are serious about success we can imagine what good form looks like in our chosen sport, hobby or interest, though what about your project team? If your team was ‘on form’ what would that look like?
This is my vision for your team:
- Your team has incredible drive, drawn from a clear purpose and common objectives. This team knows where it is going and is unstoppable. Its clarity goes way beyond the ‘on time, on budget’ cliché.
- The members have a collective focus on what is currently important and what needs to be achieved. They are not reliant on your focus and constant reminders, indeed they are fine tuning your focus!
- There is a unique quality to this team in that members are ‘complete’ with each other and work at staying ‘complete’ – interpersonal issues have been sorted and get sorted as they occur. The members of this team walk tall as they don’t carry cripplingly heavy sacks of emotional boulders on their backs.
- This team has boundless quantities of energy, they are fresh and strong and take the inevitable and frequent ‘hits’ from outside in their stride.
The team has remark-able energy comprising: spiritual energy (its drive), mental energy (its collective focus), emotional energy (its unique quality) and physical energy (boundless quantity).
Would this team ‘win’ for you and its customers, employers and members? I think it would have a far better chance than the above cycling team given the strength of the competition in their respective fields.
Having seen what ‘on form’ might look like for your team the big question is how to move towards that. That’s where the hand-picked expert support comes in. I can help you, though only if you are serious about success.
