Mace – Controlling rapid growth while delivering excellence

Mark Castle was appointed to head up a new group company, Mace Plus, in order to broaden its offer to include fixed price contracting.

Having secured £19m worth of business and expecting further rapid growth, Mark was concerned about a lack of effective controls and so turned to DSA
for support.

The brief was to enable the production of the Mace Plus Management Plan, to be in use within three months.

This involved:

  • Facilitating working groups to identify, map, articulate and capture the best practice methodology for each key operational and commercial business process
  • Design of the Management Plan architecture and liaison with the Mace IT department to upload onto the company’s intranet platform

Remarkable results

  • Management Plan immediately adopted by staff
  • Rapid business growth, in a controlled manner, while delivering excellence for customers
  • Mace Plus is now fully integrated into the Mace brand and successfully delivers £1.7bn of profitable fixed price construction projects.
