Putting up with it
It would freeze during presentations, and launch a software update 10 minutes from a deadline. It was slow and I worried the noise it made would give me tinnitus.
Yesterday, Sarah, my IT lady handed me my new laptop with everything loaded on it, ready to use.
Brilliant, great job, Sarah!
I’m excited for my next leadership team focus day, confident for once the IT is going to work.
It was a nifty bit of delegation, come to think of it. I asked Sarah to source me a new laptop, and we worked out the brief – spec, budget, software – and she sorted it, asking me for clarifications along the way.
It’s actually only today I realise how much that laptop was draining me, and I’m wondering what other low-level stuff has been quietly, chronically, draining me, what else I can delegate to free up more headspace and energy for what I am really good at.
Deep and deliberate delegation in action, and working.
