CPI Case Study

We were initially briefed by Frank Millar COO in autumn 2017. He explained that the company had doubled in size in under five years and he wanted a business results driven leadership development programme for the management tier directly under the Senior Leadership Team. The overall aim was to foster collaboration across the organisation, improve leadership and enhance performance. Jodie Coe the newly appointed People Director would be Programme Sponsor.

During the spring of 2018 Jodie worked with us to develop a programme based on our DeliverStart2Finish™ leadership team development process with the defined purpose being to:

  1. Deliver the Business Objectives and inform next year’s Business Objectives
  2. Drive collaboration and raise performance across the organisation
  3. Develop Leaders and realise individuals’ potential.

The programme was called “Leadership in Action” and started with eleven senior management participants in June 2018 and finished in March 2020.

Remarkable results

  • Team members reported better relationships with each other and across the business and a deeper appreciation of each other and how they worked together as a management team
  • From the eleven participants four have been promoted to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and a further three have been promoted to heads of departments
  • Jodie Coe reported in April 2020 “following our recent year end we have had a brilliant year, people performance, financial performance – in fact all our measures are brilliant – all greens with a couple of amber. We have had a fantastic year and all across a period disrupted by Brexit, new Government, new CEO (Frank Millar) and now coronavirus. The Leadership in Action Team and all members within it have been at the forefront of leading and managing this success. We are now in balance and are creating a new culture”

I worked with Dave in a previous company where he coached the operations team to better performance and return the division to consistent profits. Dave recently designed and coached our Leadership In Action programme for a cohort of CPI senior managers. The programme started in June 2018 and finished earlier this year.
