Change the script

Steve goes:

“This needs to be done!”

“Why isn’t it done?”

“When will you do it?”

“I told you last month …”

“That’s no excuse.”

 

And Jason goes:

“I need more time.”

“I’m doing my best …”

“You never explained.”

“Look at the hours I’m putting in …”

“You don’t understand.”

 

Around and around they go.

There is a way to break the circuit and allow trust and confidence to seep back in, but somebody has to change the script.

Steve could say:

“Tell me what needs to happen for this to get done.”

This opens the door to a more fruitful exchange.
